Gather4McGahan

On Friday 4th July 2025, our good friend and former team mate Catriona McGahan was involved in an accident whilst on holiday in France that has left her with life-altering injuries.

Catriona was flown by French Air Ambulance from the accident to a hospital in Marseille and then transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital, Belfast. Catriona is now home, continuing to work on her rehabilitation.

The extent of the physical injuries has meant Catriona has many adjustments to make to get on with daily life. She requires home modification and extensive therapy.

Catriona has worn the jerseys of Oonagh Celts LGFC, Killeeshil GFC, Tyrone LGFA, Ulster LGFA, University of Ulster GFC, Parnells GFC, London LGFA as well as Central Coast GAA in Australia. Catriona also played for Ireland in the inaugural Compromise Rules test v Austraila in 2024.

As a player, she was a great team mate and a fair, honest and hard opponent. Catriona gave everything she had for her teams and her team mates. Her football talent and dedication and her spirit, kindness and warm personality has ensured she is literally known throughout the world! We know that in times of adversity, Catriona would be the first one to help in any way she could. This is our time to step up and support her and her family.

We, her ladies football team mates and friends, are calling for support for her at this difficult time.

Monies raised will be used to support Catriona in her rehabiliation and recovery.

FIRST U20A TITLE FOR OLSPK

OLSPK 3-3 St. Mary’s 1-6

Our Lady’s and St .Patrick’s Knock won their first ever Ulster U20A title with a three-point victory over St. Mary’s Magherafelt. Both teams deserve credit for serving up an excellent game in very damp conditions.

St. Mary’s Aoife Doherty fired over the first score of the game however their lead was short lived as Grace Guest found the net for OLSPK in the seventh minute. The Knock school then extended their lead when full forward Rose Horisk also rattled the net and Guest sent over another point.

In the second quarter the teams scored a couple of points each. Jemma Shivers scored two frees for the Magherafelt outfit while Evie McHugh and Guest cancelled these scores. Going in at the break OLSPK led by 6 points, 2-3 to 0-3.

Early in the second half Shivers cut the lead to five when she pointed however OLSPK then scored a fortunate goal. Evie Mc Hugh’s free was launched into the square and the wet ball slid of a number of defender hands into the net.

St. Mary’s to their credit never gave up. With 13 left, Ava Hurl found the net with a well taken penalty. Further points followed from Doherty and Shivers to leave just three between the sides. In the final minutes the Magherafelt side piled on the pressure,  however OLSPK stood strong to claim the title.

Grace Guest top scored with 1-2 while Jemma Shivers fired over four points and Evie Mc Hugh contributed 1-1. OLSPK Captain Isa Mc Carron was named MFC Player of the Match.

MFC sponsored jerseys for both finalists. The OLSPK sported a FW inside a star, to commemorate their former teacher Frankie Wilson who was heavily involved in ladies football in the school before his untimely passing. It was also a great night for Cara McDermott who celebrated her 18th Birthday today.
