First Half Goals See Donegal Through

Two first half goals were the foundation for a Donegal win over a Tyrone team that refused to lie down. Next up for Donegal is a semi final meeting with Cavan while Tyrone go to the All Ireland series full of confidence.
After a close first quarter Donegal led by just a point however two goals in the second quarter from Geraldine Mc Laughlin and Niamh Hegarty helped the Tir Chonnail side to a 2-6 to 0-8 interval lead.
Donegal had a dream start to the second half. A third goal from a Mc Laughlin penalty gave them a nine point lead. Tyrone however refused to give in and goals from Maria Canavan who finished with 1-8 and Niamh Mc Girr cut the deficit to just three points. In injury time captain Karen Gutherie sent over an insurance point to ensure Donegal advance to the semi final.
