ULSTER MINOR CLUB FINAL

Bredagh 4-12 Lough Oughter Gaels 5-7


Bredagh claimed the Ulster minor club title but required extra time before seeing off Lough Oughter Gaels by a mere two points. The Down champions settled quicker and went 4 points up before the Gaels hit their first score. Both sides then got into their stride and between them delivered 6 first half goals. When the referee blew the midway whistle Bredagh were just in front 3-6 to 3-2.


In the second half Lough Oughter kept plugging away and wing forward Erin Longair leveled matters with 12 minutes left. Bredagh did go in front again through the excellent Anna O Keefe however a point from player of the match Kyla Brady seen the game finish Bredagh 3-9 Lough Oughter 4-6 and extra time was now required.


In the first period of extra time Bredagh scored a goal and a point but then Lough Oughter Gaels were dealt a massive blow with the red carding of Caithlin Crane. In the second period of extra time Bredagh extended their lead to 6 points with a couple of points from Anna McKee. Lough Oughter to their credit fought to the bitter end and a goal and a point from Sinead Mc Donald and Deirbhle Mc Caffrey closed the gap to just 2 points but the Cavan side just ran out of time and Bredagh were crowned champions.
